In a statement signed by media officer, Igboora Progress Union IPU, Tayo Akinyemi, the Union successfully hosted a high-impact seminar on drug abuse for youths in Igboora, drawing students, traditional rulers, security agencies, and community leaders to the Igboora Community Hall.

The program was organized in collaboration with the Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA, Igboora Command, as part of efforts to tackle the growing challenge of substance abuse among young people.

In his keynote lecture, the Global President of the Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation, Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, warned that drug abuse has “shattered the future of many societies, families, and students.” He stressed the role of families, religious groups, and the wider society in curbing the menace, while commending IPU and Igboora traditional rulers for their proactive approach.

The Area Commander of NDLEA Igboora Command, DCN Akomolafe Adekola Ismaila, gave a stark analysis of the consequences, noting that unchecked drug abuse could destroy three generations: grandparents, parents, and offspring. Officers of the command also displayed samples of various illicit drugs and explained their health and social implications to students and youths present.
