AKOREDE BAGS MERITORIOUS AWARD FOR PHILANTHROPY, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FROM OYSCATECH

The Executive Chairman of Ibarapa North Local Government, Hon. Lawal Lateef Adebare Akorede, on Monday, 28th July 2026 received a meritorious award for Philanthropy and Community Development from the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora [OYSCATECH].

The presentation was done during the institution’s 4th Biennial Conference held at the 800 seater Hall of the College.

The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Dr.  Adebanke Oyelakin, said the award was instituted to recognize individuals of proven character, diligence and commitment to societal growth. She congratulated the recipients and charged them to remain committed to humanitarian service.

Hon. Akorede was represented by the Chief of Staff, Ibarapa North Local Government, Hon. Sunday Ogunjimi. In support of the institution, Hon. Akorede donated the sum of ₦250,000.

Hon. Lawal Lateef Adebare Akorede, FSLC, SSCE, ND, B.Sc, is the Executive Chairman of Ibarapa North Local Government, Ayete, Oyo State. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of Akorede Frozen Foods and holds the traditional titles of Aare Musulumi of Ayete Land, Turaki A-Deen of Igangan Land, and Majeobaje of Kajola Land.

Born on 19th October 1985 in Ayete to the Akorede family of Aseniyan Kukuru Compound, Ikogba, he started his education at Ansar-Ud-Deen Primary School, Ayete/Tapa, and proceeded to Ayete Grammar School where he obtained WASSCE and NECO. He also attended Madrasat Durill Hadith Tahalim Lil Harobiya, Ayete for Islamic education.

He obtained a National Diploma in Business Administration from Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa [formerly The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Eruwa Campus] in 2016, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Second Class Upper, from Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo in 2024.

Hon. Akorede began public service as Supervisory Councillor for Education, Culture and Special Duties, Ibarapa North LG [2019-2020]. He was elected Executive Chairman [2020-2023] and re-elected for a second term in 2024. He is also the APM candidate for Ibarapa Central/North Federal Constituency for the 2027 general elections.

As Chairman, he prioritized security, infrastructure and grassroots development. His administration worked with the Nigeria Police, Nigerian Army and local security outfits to restore peace in Ibarapa North, especially the Igangan axis. This effort led to the establishment of a Nigerian Army Forward Operation Base in the Local Government.

Today, Ibarapa North is widely regarded as one of the safest and most peaceful LGAs in Oyo State. His administration has also executed people-oriented projects that improved infrastructure, public service delivery and socio-economic wellbeing.

Described as humble, accessible and generous, Hon. Akorede is a renowned entrepreneur, youth advocate and philanthropist. He is happily married with children and is celebrated by the Akorede family as their “Golden Son.”
