The Executive Vice Chairman of Ibarapa North Local Government and Political Head/Administrator of Ibarapa Northwest LCDA, Hon. Akande Olubisi Ayinde, has formally resigned his membership of the People’s Democratic Party PDP with immediate effect.

In a statement dated 6th May, 2026 as made available to Asako news, Hon. Akande said the decision followed a careful review of the prolonged internal crises affecting the PDP at both the state and federal levels. He noted that the crises have weakened the party’s cohesion, undermined its leadership structure, and reduced its capacity to function as a platform for responsive governance.

“At this critical point in our political journey, it is important to align with a platform that reflects unity, clear direction, and the capacity to deliver meaningful development to our people,” he stated.

Hon. Akande thanked the leadership and members of the PDP for the opportunity to serve, particularly in his current roles as Executive Vice Chairman of Ibarapa North Local Government and Political Head/Administrator of Ibarapa Northwest LCDA.

He reaffirmed his commitment to public service and grassroots development, assuring constituents that his focus remains on delivering impactful governance and advancing the welfare of the people.

The former PDP chieftain said further political engagements and alignments would be communicated in due course.
