IPU PARTNERS ADWF, NDLEA FOR YOUTH SEMINAR ON DRUG ABUSE IN IGBO-ORA, MAY 16.
The Igbo-Ora Progress Union (IPU), through its Directorate of Youth Affairs, will hold a major Youth Seminar on Drug Abuse on Saturday, 16th May 2026, as part of efforts to curb substance abuse and build a drug-free future in Ibarapa Central.
The seminar, themed _“Building a Community of Opportunity: Empowering Drug-Free Youths as Agents of Change”_, will take place at The Community Hall, Sagan-Un, Igbo-Ora, by 10:00 a.m. Participants are expected to be seated by 9:30 a.m.
According to the IPU President, Pastor Alex Adekunle Oladeji (JP), the initiative reflects the Union’s commitment to youth development and the prevention of social vices. The programme is being organized under the leadership of the Director of Youth Affairs, Prince Ajibolu Oke, in collaboration with the Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation (ADWF) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ibarapa Central Division.
In a statement made available to Asako news, the event will feature expert-led discussions, youth empowerment talks, interactive sessions, and practical guidance on preventing drug abuse and promoting responsible living. Both ADWF and NDLEA will serve as key resource organizations.
Expected participants include pupils and students from public and private schools in Ibarapa Central LGA, members of NURTW Youth Wing, RTEAN Youth Wing, Okada Riders Association, Man O’ War, NANS, Federation of Igbo-Ora Students’ Union (FISU), parents, teachers, community leaders, and other youth organizations and stakeholders.
Speaking on the importance of the seminar, the IPU Director, Youth Affairs , Prince Ajibolu Oke, noted that the Union seeks to equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and motivation needed to resist drug abuse and become positive change agents within their communities. The Union described the programme as a significant step toward safeguarding the future of the youth and strengthening the moral fabric of society.
IPU is calling on well-meaning individuals, corporate bodies, and organizations to support the initiative through sponsorships and advertisements, stressing that collective effort remains crucial in building a drug-free society.
