Ibarapa Kan Dumps PDP Amid Deepening Crisis

Hon. Dr. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, the member representing Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing unresolved internal crises rocking the party at both the state and constituency levels.

In a resignation letter dated May 5, 2026, addressed to the PDP Ward 4 Chairman in Isale Penbo, Igbo-Ora, the federal lawmaker lamented that the lingering divisions and leadership conflicts within the party have continued to affect his legislative duties and political activities.

Adepoju stated that despite his unwavering loyalty and commitment to the PDP since securing its ticket in 2022, which led to his victory in the 2023 general election, the ongoing instability within the party has made it difficult to function effectively.

He also reflected on his family’s long-standing history with the PDP, noting that his late father, Dr. Amos Ademola Adepoju, was among the founding members of the party in 1998 and served as its National Financial Secretary between 1999 and 2002.

According to him, his decision to leave the PDP is aimed at enabling him to concentrate fully on delivering quality representation and fulfilling the mandate entrusted to him by the people of Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency.
