IBARAPA YOUTH MUST RISE FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE — APC YOUTH LEAGUE COORDINATOR, AYOBAMI DAGILOGBA
On Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, the State Coordinator of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth League in Oyo State, Honourable Ayobami Dagilogba, charged the youth of Ibarapa and Oyo State at large to rise and play active roles in politics, stating that their involvement and support for the present administration are vital to securing a better future and entrenching good governance
Speaking during an interview with Asako Reporters during a stakeholders’ engagement in Ibarapa, Dagilogba said the APC Youth League — established on October 15, 2013 — is a support group saddled with the responsibility of mobilising young people for the APC and building leadership capacity, emancipation, and inclusion for youth within the party structure.
Dagilogba dismissed claims of party crisis, stressing that unlike other parties, APC remains united and has not witnessed any major decamping in recent times — “nobody can call himself a progressive and decamp to another party,” he maintained.
Commenting on the state of the nation’s economy, the youth leader urged Nigerians to be patient, likening the present hardship to the pains that accompany planting before harvest. According to him, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is laying a solid foundation to reform the economy, secure the country, and place Nigeria in its rightful position globally. “You have to feel the pain before you have the relief, in a few time everything will be okay,” he assured.
Dagilogba said the league is embarking on sensitisation and mobilisation across Oyo State, especially in rural areas like Ibarapa, to enlighten young people on the various empowerment and infrastructural initiatives of the Tinubu administration. He however decried poor media projections of government’s efforts which give room for opposition propaganda, insisting that the present administration is doing much more than what is being aired.
He lamented the longstanding electricity crisis in Ibarapa, noting that many communities in Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North have been in darkness for years despite increased federal allocations to the State Government. He condemned Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration for allegedly prioritising “white elephant projects like Governor’s Lodge renovation” over the welfare of ordinary citizens in the rural areas.
In his words, “Ibarapa North has not had light for over five years, Ibarapa Central has not seen electricity this year — those are the areas the state government should provide relief rather than seeking loans for prestige projects”.
Dagilogba however commended the APC federal government for pushing local government autonomy and funding constituency development which enables federal lawmakers to execute impactful projects such as roads, schools, health facilities, and youth recruitment into security and paramilitary agencies — insisting that if state governors adhere to these policies, “Nigeria will look like London.”
He also spoke on the concluded APC bye-election primaries in Ibadan North, describing it as peaceful. He congratulated Hon. Olatunji Murphy as the party’s flag bearer, expressing optimism that APC will reclaim Oyo State in 2027 “based on the legacy of the late Jagaban of Ibadan politics, Hon. Akinremi.”
Calling on all youths in Ibarapa and across Oyo State, Dagilogba said: “They should all put hands together and involve themselves in politics. They should support the present administration from federal to state level. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has a very good plan for the youth and for Nigeria as a whole”.
