After 13 Years, Itabo Kingmakers selected Prince Jamiu Alabi as Onitabo-Elect

Prince Alabi Jamiu Adedotun of the Agan ruling house has been selected as the new Onitabo-elect of Itabo, Ibarapa East Local Government.

According to oyoaffairs.net dated 19th July 2025, Prince Adedotun emerge after polling three votes in a keenly contested election held Friday July 18, 2025, at the Ibarapa North East LCDA Secretariat.

This according to the report end a 13-year succession crisis that has left the ancient throne vacant since the demise of the late monarch, late Oba Dr Eyinloye Amori Afolabi, who hailed from Egun ruling house.

The selection process, featured five candidates from the Agan ruling family, saw Prince Kehinde Isiaka Bayonle securing one vote while three other contenders – Olagoke Stephen Oláníyì, Moteleola Taiwo, and Odewole Segun scored no vote from the kingmakers.

The selection process was conducted by four Itabo kingmakers: Chief Adeleke Ogundeji (Elemo), Chief Okelola Olawale (Ojumo), Chief Olaniyi Olagbeso (Asalu), and Chief Afolabi Gbolamu (Oota, Warrant Chief).

The process was witnessed by key stakeholders including the LCDA Chairman Hon. Olalowo, the Head of Local Administration Mr. S.I Olagoke, and the Director of Administration and General Services and a joint team comprising operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force, Operation Burst, and Amotekun Corps.

In line with the news report, the Itabo kingmakers have issued an urgent appeal to the Oyo State Government through the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Local Government Affairs and the local government administration, to fast-track approval of the outcome.
