OYSCOE LANLATE TO HOST IBARAPA INTER-TERTIARY DEBATE COMPETITION 3.0 ON JULY 24

The Oyo State College of Education, OYSCOE Lanlate will on Friday, 24th July, 2026 host the 3rd Edition of the Ibarapa Inter-Tertiary Debate Competition, bringing together brightest students across Ibarapa land for intellectual discourse on national development.

The annual competition, convened by Amb. Ojewola Olawale, is themed: “Empowering Nigeria’s Future: Clarion Calls for the Youths to Rise Up to the Challenges.”

This year’s motion for debate is: “Nigerian youths are an adequate guarantee for national transformation and global advancement through capacity building in our digital world.”

Debaters from tertiary institutions in the Ibarapa Zone are expected to participate, with royal fathers, academic leaders, alumni, sponsors, and education stakeholders in attendance.

According to the organizers, the program is scheduled to hold by 10:00 am at the Oyo State College of Education, Lanlate.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE EVENT
1. Ibarapa Active Citizens Recognition Award: Distinguished individuals will be honoured for their contributions to education, leadership, and community development in Ibarapa land.
2. Book Unveiling: The Convener, Amb. Ojewola Olawale, will unveil his new book titled “ Rise Up, Young Nigerians!”

Speaking on the book, the organizers noted that “Rise Up, Young Nigerians!” is designed as a practical roadmap for young people to transform frustration into action.
The book provides step-by-step guidance on confronting corruption, building movements, launching campaigns, and creating sustainable social enterprises. It also equips youths with leadership skills, digital advantage, and resilience for long-term impact.

“This isn’t motivation; it’s a manual. Nigeria doesn’t need more dreamers. It needs leaders ready to act. Your time is now,” the book’s synopsis reads.

The Ibarapa Inter-Tertiary Debate Competition is an annual platform designed to promote critical thinking, leadership, and civic engagement among young people in Ibarapa. Now in its 3rd edition, the competition seeks to amplify youth voices and position education as a driver for regional development.

Speaking ahead of the event, the Convener, Amb. Ojewola Olawale said:
“Oyo State College of Education, Lanlate is calling, let us all answer.”

The committee has invited the general public, stakeholders, and the media to witness what it described as _“the largest intellectual gathering in Ibarapa” an exchange of ideas expected to shape the future of the zone.
