OYSCATECH DEBUNKS INSECURITY RUMORS, DECLARES CAMPUS ENVIRONMENT SAFE
The Management of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora has urged prospective Students, Parents, Guardians and returning Students of the institution, to disregard scary and unverified information being circulated on social media regarding insecurity around the campus environment.
According to the information from the office of the Rector, Prof. Akinola Akinlabi which was made available to the Public Relations Office by the Registrar, Mr. Raaheed Fasasi Adenrele Adeniji, dated 2nd September , 2026, the Rector appreciated the security agencies, including the Department of State Security Service, the Civil Defence, the Nigeria Police Force, Amotekun Corps, OPC, Vigilante groups, and other security agencies for their usual support, unflinching efforts and intensified patrols towards maintaining law and order within the community and campus environment.
The Rector revealed that the security agencies have commenced investigations into reported cases of robbery which has been brought under control while assuring of security of lives and properties.
The Rector, therefore, assured of Management’s commitment in providing a peaceful and secure atmosphere for learning.
He said, “There is no cause for alarm or fear. The environment is safe for all to carry out their duties without obstruction or impediment from anyone.”
In his reaction, the Chief Security
Officer for the institution, Mr. Adedokun Adeboye, noted that OYSCATECH is not in session presently as the Students are on break.
While noting that the Police has been briefed about the robbery incidents that occurred in some privately-owned hostels outside the campus and action had been taken.
Mr Adedokun also disclosed that the institution has always maintained cordial and peaceful relationship with the host community towards a harmonious relationship.
He added that Traditional Rulers and Council, Community Leaders, Landlords, and Youth groups have not reneged on their promise for continued cooperation and vigilance in Students’ populated areas in order to ensure the safety of lives and property.
