STOP MAKING EMPTY PROMISES TO IBARAPA LAND! – Comr. Ayantunji Feranmi

By Comrade Ayantunji Feranmi H. (Kiniun Akewi Akoni Omo Ibarapa)
Ibarapa politicians must stop making promises they have no intention of fulfilling. Our people deserve more than repeated assurances; they deserve tangible development, accountability, and results.
Sadly, the World Twins Festival, an event that should celebrate our culture, unity, and heritage, has increasingly become an occasion for political promises that remain unfulfilled year after year.
How long will Ibarapa continue to wait for promises that never become reality?
For many years, politicians have come to Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North promising stable electricity. Yet, Ibarapa Central has endured prolonged periods of darkness, despite being home to a state institution. Ibarapa North, too, has suffered from inadequate electricity for decades.
Imagine a young man or woman who has lived in Ibarapa North for 20 years and has barely experienced regular public electricity supply from IBEDC. In many communities, solar-powered lights have become the most visible alternative to the unreliable or unavailable electricity supply.
Is this the level of development Ibarapa deserves in the 21st century?
What exactly are our politicians using as their campaign message when they return to these communities year after year without delivering on their previous commitments?
Our politicians, both at the state and local government levels, must stop treating Ibarapa as a place to make political promises during festivals and campaign seasons. We deserve responsible leadership, measurable progress, and genuine commitment to the welfare of our people.
Over the years, numerous promises have been made concerning the development of Ibarapa Central, Ibarapa North, and the entire Ibarapa region. Unfortunately, many of these promises remain unfulfilled, while our communities continue to struggle with basic infrastructure and essential public services.
Let us ask some important questions:
You promised Twins FM some years ago. Where is it today?
You promised stable electricity. Where is it?
You promised good roads. Where are they?
You promised development and a better standard of living. Where are the results?
These are not unreasonable questions. They are legitimate demands from citizens who deserve to see the benefits of governance.
Why do our people have to listen to the same promises repeatedly? Why should every World Twins Festival become another opportunity to announce projects that may never be completed?
Ibarapa should have progressed far beyond its present level if successive administrations had translated their promises into meaningful action. Our people are hardworking, our land has enormous potential, and our cultural heritage is a source of pride. What we need is leadership that recognises this potential and acts accordingly.
IBARAPA IS NOT A VILLAGE. IBARAPA DESERVES DEVELOPMENT!
We contribute to the growth and progress of Oyo State, and we deserve our fair share of infrastructure, investment, opportunities, and public services.
We are not asking for favours. We are demanding responsible governance and equitable development.
To our political leaders, both present and aspiring: please stop taking the people of Ibarapa for granted. Do not wait until the next World Twins Festival or election season before remembering our communities. Let your achievements speak louder than your campaign speeches.
We need functional roads. We need reliable electricity. We need quality education, improved healthcare, economic opportunities, and sustainable development across Ibarapa Central, Ibarapa North, Ibarapa East, and the entire Ibarapa region.
OUR DEMANDS ARE SIMPLE:
Keep the promises you make.
Complete the projects you announce.
Provide the infrastructure our communities need.
Treat Ibarapa with the respect and fairness it deserves.
Make accountability the foundation of your leadership.
We need a better Ibarapa. We deserve the best for Ibarapa. Our people deserve a future filled with opportunities, not endless expectations.
ENOUGH OF EMPTY PROMISES. IT IS TIME FOR ACTION!
Let the next World Twins Festival be remembered not for another round of political promises, but for visible projects, completed commitments, and genuine progress.
Ibarapa deserves better, and we will continue to speak up until our voices are heard and meaningful change becomes a reality.
GOD BLESS IBARAPA LAND.
