IPU CELEBRATES OLUKOSI OF IBEREKODO, CHIEF SAMSON GBOYEGA OLAOYE AT 80

Describes Him As A Colossus of Public Service, A Frontline Leader of Igbo-Ora

The Igbo-Ora Progressive Union (IPU) has felicitated with one of its frontline leaders and a prominent son of Igbo-Ora, Chief Samson Gboyega Olaoye, the Olukosi of Iberekodo, as he marks his 80th birthday today, September 26, 2026.

In a homage signed by its Media Officer, Tayo Akinyemi, on behalf of the President, Pastor Alex Oladeji (JP), the National Interim Steering Council, Board of Trustees, Elders and the entire membership of the Union home and in the diaspora, the IPU described the octogenarian as a rare gem and a living legend.

The statement read:

“On behalf of the President, Pastor Alex Oladeji (JP), National Interim Steering Council, Board of Trustees, Elders and the entire membership of the Igbo-Ora Progressive Union (IPU) home and abroad, we roll out the drums to celebrate a rare gem, a colossus of public service and a frontline leader of our dear land on his 80th Birthday today.”

The Union noted that at 80, Chief Olaoye’s life remains a masterclass in selfless service, integrity and uncommon wisdom.

Recalling his meritorious service as a former Head of Service of Oyo State, the IPU said Baba Olukosi served the pacesetter state with distinction, honour and the fear of God, leaving behind indelible footprints of reform, discipline and professionalism that still speak in the civil service today.

It added that as a leader of IPU and a prominent son of Igbo-Ora, Chief Olaoye has deployed his wealth of experience, contacts and personal resources for the unity, progress and development of Igbo-Ora land.

” You are not just a title holder, you are a pathfinder, a bridge-builder, a counselor to the young and a stabilizing voice of reason in moments of challenge. In you, the younger generation finds a model of how to rise to the top without losing touch with the roots. Igbo-Ora is proud of you, Ibarapaland is proud of you,” the homage added.

The IPU prayed that Almighty God will grant the celebrant more years in sound health, sound mind and abundant joy, and that his wisdom will continue to be a lamp for the Union and for Igbo-Ora in general.

“Happy 80th Birthday, Sir! Igba Odun, Odun Kan!” the statement concluded.
