AKINYEMI HOUSE TRIUMPHS AT OGBOJA GRAMMAR SCHOOL INTER-HOUSE SPORTS 

Oba Akinyemi House has emerged as the overall winner of the 42nd Annual Inter-House Sports Athletics Competition of Ogboja Grammar School, Pako Igboora, held on May 6, 2026, at the school’s sports ground.

The house secured an impressive 296 points to clinch the top position, outperforming other competing houses in a vibrant and closely contested event that highlighted students’ athletic talents, discipline, and spirit of sportsmanship.

The competition, which has remained a long-standing tradition of over four decades, was successfully organized under the leadership of the school’s Principal, Mr. Iyanda F. J. Stakeholders and attendees commended the seamless coordination of the event, as well as the commitment of officials, referees, and marshals whose professionalism ensured fairness throughout the competition.

Special recognition was given to the athletes of Oba Akinyemi House for their exceptional performance, teamwork, and resilience, which earned them victory and brought honour to the legacy of the late HRH, Oba AbdulHameed Olayide Akinyemi, Onipako of Pako.

Despite the celebratory atmosphere, concerns were raised regarding the deteriorating state of infrastructure within the school. Observers noted that many classrooms, laboratories, and essential facilities are in poor condition, posing challenges to effective teaching and learning.

In light of this, a call has been made to the Oyo State Government, led by Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde, as well as the Honourable Member representing Ibarapa Central/North Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. Adebayo Adepoju, to urgently intervene. The appeal emphasized the need for the construction of modern classrooms, functional laboratories, and improved learning facilities.

Ogboja Grammar School, regarded as a key educational institution in Ibarapa, is expected to continue shaping future leaders if provided with the necessary infrastructural support.
