Strengthening Family Ties and Societal Unity: Lessons from Ramadan – Cleric Admonishes at Owotutu Maiden Lecture

A renowned Islamic cleric, Fadilat Sheikh AbdulJalil Tijani Alafan, has urged Muslims to utilize the spirit of Ramadan to strengthen family bonds and unite society. He made this call at the maiden Owotutu Ramadan Lecture in honor of the late Sheikh Fasasi Akano Adesope Owotutu, a respected Ibarapa Islamic leader and businessman.

Sheikh Tijani eulogized the late Alhaji Owotutu’s humanitarian services, particularly his contributions to the Mahad Islamic Center, Ibadan. He encouraged leaders to emulate the late Sheikh’s humility and charity.

The cleric advised Muslims to use Ramadan to become faithful believers, responsive to family responsibilities and societal needs. He emphasized that Ramadan promotes strengthening family ties, humility, and unity.

The children of the late Sheikh Owotutu in a separate interview, Alhaji Ibraheem Adesope and Alhaja Aminat Adesina, described their father as a rare icon who significantly contributed to Islam, business, and the Ibarapa community.

The event was attended by members of Sheikh Fasasi Akano Adesope Owotutu’s family and notable figures, including the Chief Imam of Igboora, Sheikh Yusau Alobalowo, Prof. Aderinoye and Islamic societies.
