Historic Turbaning: Akorede Becomes First Aare Musulumi of Ayete

The Muslim Community of Ayete, Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State is set to make history on Saturday, August 29, 2026, as it turbans the Executive Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Lateef Adebare Lawal ‘Akorede’, as the first Aare Musulumi of Ayete-land.

According to the organisers, the honour is in recognition of Akorede’s outstanding contributions to the growth, unity, and development of Islam and the Muslim community in Ayete.

The turbaning ceremony will take place at the Baptist High School Playing Ground, Ayete.

The event will be hosted by the Executive Chairman of Ibarapa Central Local Government, Hon. Sola Adeleke, while the Chief Imam of Ayete-land, Fadilatul Sheikh Alhaji Abdullahi Daud Folorunso, will serve as Chief Host.

A distinguished Islamic lecture will be delivered by Fadilatul Sheikh Alhaji Jamiu Aminolorun, with Islamic musical rendition by renowned artist, Alhaji AbdulAzeez ‘Saoty Arewa’.

A MILESTONE FOR THE AKOREDE FAMILY

Akorede, who is also the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate for the Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North State Constituency in the forthcoming elections, will be the first individual to be conferred with the prestigious title.

The Akorede family has expressed deep appreciation to the Ayete Muslim Community for the honour, describing it as a historic milestone, being the first time a member of the family will hold the revered title.
