FIBSA BROUHAHA: GTMIKE SETTLE FINANCIAL RIFTS WITH THE SENATE ARM

The embattled President of the Federation of Ibarapa Students Association (FIBSA), Comrade Gabriel Timileyin Michael has returned the payment of three hundred thousand naira to the Senate arm of the association.

In a statement made available on Wednesday and was sighted by our correspondent, Adedokun Sunday, who investigated the whole issue from genesis.

Recall that FIBSA President, Gabriel Timileyin was suspended amidst tough decisions of the Senate members of the indigenous students association led by the Senate President, Tomiwa Akinlade.

The President was suspended on Monday, January 23, 2023 by the Students’ Union lawmakers on series of allegations such as financial misappropriation, lack of transparency, failure to account for the total amount made in the process of organizing the dinner and award night.

GTMike assured the legislative arm that he would refund all the capital that was generated through the 2022 FIBSA dinner and award night back to the association’s treasury before the expiration of his tenure.

However, the Senate Arm led by Distinguish Senator Akinlade Tomiwa set up a committee to investigate the matter and made Senator Soji Adeleke the chairman with five other members cutting across various towns in the zone.

While the investigation was ongoing, the President has already been suspended. At the end of the committee’s investigation, they recommended an impeachment for the President.

Payment Confirmation

In a bid to exercise thorough accountability, embattled President of the Federation of Ibarapa Students Association (FIBSA) confirmed to reporters to have made the complete payment of what is expected of him to refund. GTMike made the receipt available to journalists for confirmation.

The receipt clearly confirmed that the payment was made on Wednesday, 20th December 2023 with a total sum of ₦300,000.00 transferred using ALAT banking app from a union bank which was traced to Timileyin Michael Gabriel to another union bank account which belongs to the Senate Clerk, Senator Samuel Odesise.

Gabriel confirmed to our staff reporter that he is no longer owing the students body and the recovered money which he singlehandedly raised will be beneficial to the new administration which will come on board in a few days time.

Greetings from the FIBSA National Senate;

We are glad to inform the general public that the funds that the FIBSA National president, Comrade GT Mike who was accused and found guilty of mismanagement has been recovered.

He has promised, have remitted to the senate the money as at the time this news is being released.

We would remember that the money he was accused of amounted to ₦866,800. He claimed that he spent over ₦350,000 for the first program he did and was later believed to be true i.e inauguration at the inception of this administration), this amount is removed from the money he’s expected to return; also he had separated a sum of ₦150,000 for souvenir which is with the Gen Sec of the association (and of cause this amount has been added to the total fund to be returned, so it was removed).

Laconically, The sum of ₦300,000 has been returned by the FIBSA National president, Comr G T Mike. Howbeit, the public would want to be sure of what the remaining ₦66,800 would be done with, it has been assigned for another wonderful package which won’t be announced for now by the senate arm, waiting for the execution of the program from the national executives.

We promise to always do whatever that will move the union forward.

Gabriel Timileyin Reacts…

‘Gone are the days of active unionism, a lot of people we have around us now were forced to contest for the positions they occupied at present. As the President of the zone with seven towns and many villages, a larger percent of my cabinets lack the commitment to serve diligently and selflessness. We compelled some of them before they could attend meetings or other activities of the association.

‘During the time when we started planning for the annual event which eventually instigated the crisis that ensued the union to stagnation, most of the executives aren’t ready to sacrifice but they want to collect transportation fees from the President even to go to toilets.

‘I have no issues with my executives since I understand what it takes to have passion and it’s opposite, many of them stood far away from their respective institutions,¹ immediately after the New Year holiday and come back by December again, how do we expect such a person to actively run an administration without flaws? Those are the kind of people that surrounded my cabinet, that was the reason why I act more than I should because at the end of it all, the administration will be tagged with my name. GTMike is everywhere and we have some members of the executive that are not known at all, is that not enough to carry my cross?

‘My activeness birthed the hatred that was developed against me, before I noticed that, a lot of things had damaged. But to the glory of God, today I am confidently happy that we are leaving behind a FIBSA that is financially liberated, when we came in nothing was in the association’s account, it has never happened.

‘From the inception of my administration, I have vowed that transparency will be the centre of it all, amidst other promises, I’m glad it’s fulfilling today. Today, FIBSA National successfully handed over Three Hundred Thousand Naira in her purse, it has never happened in the history of FIBSA National. As golden as it is, it should be golden in the heart of the people, I single-handedly raise funds for the association and it wasn’t even spent by my administration alone but will also be part of what the coming administration would start with, permit me to charge individuals that made donations to FIBSA National and wasn’t acknowledged to kindly speak up now.

‘The conspiracy against GTMike massacred the growth and activity of the whole of FIBSA, we lost the agility, the association remained unmovable, toothless and retrogressive. I have just refunded the excesses counted against me, I am optimistic that the next administration would have learned from what transpired, nothing shall discourage us, Aluta Continua, Victoria Ascerta, ‘Halleluyah and here I say EBENEZER’ Gabriel Timileyin Mike added.
