The media office of the member representing Ibarapa Central and North Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, has described allegations by PDP Reps candidate, Hon. Dr. Muraina Saubana Ajibola, as “factually incorrect” and “politically motivated.”

In a statement issued Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hassan Adesodi Olaoniye, ANIPR, Hon. Adepoju’s camp said the Abeokuta–Igbo-Ora/Lanlate/Igangan 132/33KV Transmission Line was awarded in 2009 for ₦1.9bn and was marked completed in 2021 — 2 years before Hon. Adepoju was elected in 2023.

The statement said rather than stall the project, Hon. Adepoju raised an investigative motion in the House after discovering the project was marked 100% completed in 2021 despite less than 40% work done on ground. According to the office, the probe has led to renewed work at the three sub-stations in Igangan, Igboora and Lanlate.

The statement further noted that the 3-term former lawmaker spent 12 years in the National Assembly without completing the project, and accused him of “raising false claims and stirring people’s emotions every election season.”

Intervention with Minister of Power
On current efforts, the office disclosed that Hon. Adepoju recently visited the office of the Minister of Power, Chief Joseph Tegbe, three weeks ago to present the plight of Ibarapa Central and North over poor power supply.

During the meeting, Hon. Adepoju placed a direct call to Pastor Alex Oladeji, President of the Igbo-Ora Progressive Union, IPU, and Hon. Yemi Akinlabi, to join the discussion. Both community leaders spoke extensively with the Honourable Minister on the need for urgent intervention in the constituency.

The Minister acknowledged that lack of funding had slowed progress at the sub-power stations but promised an immediate alternative solution while also sourcing funds for full completion of the project. The Minister further noted that the Ibarapa region is also part of his constituency.

The office also noted the inclusion of transformers and replacement of faulty poles for Eruwa-Igangan in the 2025 budget, which is yet to be implemented.

On Federal Medical Centre
On the proposed Federal Medical Centre, Igboora, the office clarified that bills lapse with each Assembly, and that Hon. Adepoju’s bill is currently before the President for assent.

3-Year Achievements Highlighted
The statement reeled out what it called Hon. Adepoju’s 3-year achievements, including:

Employment: 172 youths facilitated into federal agencies including Army, Police, Customs, FIRS, NTA, EFCC.

Infrastructure: 3 mechanized cassava processing plants, solar cold room, 10+ motorized boreholes, classroom blocks, road rehabilitation, solar streetlights.
