NANS, OYSCATECH STUDENTS, IBARAPA RESIDENTS ISSUES ULTIMATUM FOR RESTORATION OF POWER SUPPLY TO IBARAPA.

What is described as long overdue peaceful protest challenging more than a decade cessation of Electricity supply in Ibarapa region, was staged by students’ body of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology Students  Union (numbering  hundreds) and residents of Ibarapa region peacefully staged a protest on Wednesday , 6th August 2025 in Igboora, the headquarters of Ibarapa Central Local Government, Oyo State.

The protest led by the NANS Vice Chairman , Oyo Axis, Com. Idris Adeboye Jimoh(SUGAR)  issued a 3-day ultimatum for a quick  restoration of reliable electricity supply back to Ibarapa region from Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).

Major parts of the demands include:

1. Immediate restoration of reliable electricity supply

2. Accountability for prolonged outages

3. Concrete plans for infrastructure improvement

According to Com. Idris Adeboye Jimoh(SUGAR):

“We have given IBEDC a 3-day ultimatum to respond to our demands. Failure to meet our expectations will result in a total lockdown of Ibarapa Axis.

“The peaceful protest demonstrates our unity and determination to seek change. We urge IBEDC to take our demands seriously and work towards resolving this crisis”, he concluded.
