The internal crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibarapa Central Local Government of Oyo State took a new twist on Monday as dozens of party members stormed the Igbo-Ora Divisional Police Station, Onimangoro, protesting alleged police intimidation by a House of Representatives candidate.

Speaking with Asako News during the protest at the station, one of the factional ward chairmen, Mr. Mufutau Owoade, narrated how the lingering crisis over the party’s congresses conducted in February this year has snowballed into harassment with security agencies.

According to Owoade, on Monday, October 12, 2026, dozens of APC members in Ibarapa Central were at the Igbo-Ora Divisional Police Station responding to a police invitation over a petition reportedly written against their faction by a factional chairman loyal to the party’s House of Representatives candidate, Hon. Sarafa Olaoniye.

“This is the second time within two weeks that we are responding to invitations from security agencies. The earlier one was with the DSS,” Owoade told our correspondent.

He alleged that the root of the crisis is an attempt by the House of Representatives candidate, Hon. Sarafa Olaoniye, and his supporters to hijack the party executive positions from duly elected officers.

“This is an attempt we will soon challenge in court,” he vowed.

Other APC members seen and interviewed at the police station corroborated Owoade’s claim, expressing worry that the use of police to settle internal party disputes could further polarize the party ahead of the general elections.

As at press time, all efforts to speak with the House of Representatives candidate, Hon. Sarafa Olaoniye, were abortive.

The police are yet to issue an official statement on the petition.
