Gbolarumi Backs Tinubu for President, Urges Ibarapa to Vote PDP Candidates

The Oyo State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governorship candidate, His Excellency, Bar. Azeem Gbolarumi, has called on the people of Ibarapa zone to remain loyal to the PDP, insisting that the party remains strong despite alleged attempts to weaken it.

Speaking at a joint PDP stakeholders’ meeting at the Igboora Town Hall on Saturday, Bar. Gbolarumi ruled out insinuations that the PDP has been transformed into another party. He alleged that the leadership of the Accord Party Movement, APM, were “ingrates” who abandoned the platform that made them.

According to him:

“Governor Seyi Makinde and leadership of the APM are trying to run PDP, the party that produced and made them into extinction. We will not allow that. We appreciate the efforts of the PDP leaders that resuscitated the party. One of them is Hon. Dr. Saubana Ajibola Muraina. This is why Ibarapas should rally round to vote him as our next House of Representatives member in Ibarapa Central and North Federal Constituency and all other PDP candidates.”

In a surprising twist, Bar. Gbolarumi openly declared support for the re-election of  President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the forthcoming Presidential election.

However, he urged PDP members to be strategic and cautious, stating that while they should vote for the President, they must vote for all other PDP candidates in the National Assembly, Governorship, and State Assembly elections.

“We appreciate the President, but our party comes first down the ballot,” he added.

The meeting was attended by PDP State Executives, Ibarapa Local Government executives, and the party’s House of Representatives candidate, Hon. Dr. Muraina Saubana Ajibola Esq.

The declaration marks the second major political statement credited to Bar. Gbolarumi in Ibarapa zone today as the PDP intensifies mobilization ahead of 2027.
