Ambassador Okanlawon Mourns Asiwaju of Igboora, Dr. Amos Adepoju, Commends His Legacy
Ambassador Engr. Dr. David Olusegun Okanlawon, Chairman of the Olusegun Okanlawon Foundation (OOF) and Executive Director of Luli Construction Company, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Dr. Amos Adepoju, the Asiwaju of Igboora. Dr. Adepoju, a revered community leader and elder statesman, died today, August 28, 2025, at the age of 89.
In a statement, Ambassador Okanlawon extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved family, especially to Hon. Dr. Anthony Bayo Adepoju, the member representing Ibarapa Central and North Federal Constituency. He also offered prayers for the entire people of the Ibarapa region during this difficult time.
“The death of Dr. Amos Adepoju is a significant loss not only to his family but to the entire Igboora and Ibarapa communities. His life was a testament to selfless service and unwavering dedication to the development of his people,” Ambassador Okanlawon stated.
Okanlawon highlighted Dr. Adepoju’s impactful contributions to Igboora, noting his pivotal role in the Igboora Literary and Progressive Union, which later became the Igboora Progressive Union (IPU). This organization was instrumental in the establishment of key projects, including Igboora High School, Igboora Town Hall, and the Technical College now OYSCATECH.
Dr. Adepoju’s legacy also includes his distinguished service as a former Rector of the Polytechnic, Ibadan, and a former National Commissioner for Interior. Ambassador Okanlawon noted that his work in these capacities positively influenced many indigenes who now hold senior positions in the Civil Defense, Immigration, and Prisons services.
“Dr. Adepoju’s life serves as a powerful reminder of the impact one can have on their community through selfless contributions,” Okanlawon added. “His memory will forever be etched in the history of Igboora, and his legacy of development and human capital enhancement will continue to inspire generations. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
