His Royal Majesty, Oba Jimoh Olajide Titiloye Asoroolu Ayinla V, the Olu of Igbo-Ora and Permanent Chairman of the Ibarapa Central Traditional Council, has been appointed as one of the Deputy Chairmen of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs.

The appointment followed the formal inauguration of the Council by the Oyo State Government, with His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, pronounced as the Chairman of the Council on a rotational basis.

The inauguration ceremony was performed by Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on Thursday, January 15, 2026, marking the official revival of the Council, which had remained inactive since 2011.

The development followed the passage of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs (Further Amendments) Bill, 2025 by the Oyo State House of Assembly and the subsequent assent of the bill into law by Governor Makinde.

Recall that the lawmakers amended Clause 5 of Section 28 of the Chieftaincy Law, introducing a rotational chairmanship structure among the Alaafin of Oyo, the Soun of Ogbomoso, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Makinde revealed that he had held extensive consultations with the trio of foremost traditional rulers, who collectively agreed that the rotational chairmanship should commence with the Olubadan of Ibadanland.

In a statement issued by the Palace Media Office, the Olu of Igbo-Ora, Oba Jimoh Olajide Titiloye Asoroolu Ayinla V, commended the Oyo State Government for what he described as visionary leadership and respect for traditional institutions. Kabiyesi also congratulated His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, on his emergence as Chairman of the Council.

The monarch further offered prayers for peace, unity, and sustainable development in Igbo-Ora Land, while expressing optimism about the success and effectiveness of the revived Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs.
