ABDULHAMEED AKINYEMI FOUNDATION HOLDS 9TH RAMADAN LECTURE, EMPHASIZES FAMILY BONDS

The AbdulHameed Akinyemi Foundation, established in memory of the late Onipako of Pako, HRH Oba AbdulHameed Olayide Akinyemi, held its 9th edition of the Ramadan Lecture at the old Pako market square, Pako, Ibarapa Central Local Government, Igboora, Oyo State, yesterday, March 14, 2026.

The guest lecturer, Fadilat Sheikh MuhdYakub Onikeke, spoke on “Strengthening Family Bond: Islamic Perspective on Kinship and Faith,” highlighting the importance of maintaining family ties in Islam and the consequences of severing them, citing Hadiths of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW): “Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him uphold his family ties” (Sahih al-Bukhari 6138) and “The one who severs his family ties will not enter Paradise” (Sahih al-Bukhari 5984).

Alhaji Moshood Salami, chairman of the lecture, appreciated the late Oba Akinyemi’s family for their generosity and urged individuals to emulate their spirit. He also thanked traditional rulers for attending the event, emphasizing the significance of serving God during Ramadan.

Alhaji Jamiu Abdulkareem, former Commissioner for Agriculture in Oyo State, urged attendees to pray for peace and progress in Pako and Igboora communities, saying it would be a return blessing.

Speaking on behalf of the family, the foundation’s coordinator, Prince Tayo Akinyemi eulogised their late father’s spirit of Strengthening Family Bond. He prayed for the repose soul of the monarch.

Some notable attendees included the Olu of Igboora, HRM Oba Jimoh Titiloye, Oluaso of Iberekodo, Oba Jamiu Badmos, Babaaso of Iberekodo-Igbole, Oba Joshua Ojo, Onisaganun of Saganun, Oba Fasasi Jinad. Islamic clerics at the occasion include Chief Imam of Pako, Imam Kamoildeen Onilenla, representative of Imam Ligali Adebayo, Chief Imam of Idofin, Chief Imam NUD, Chief Imam, AUD, Representative of the Chief Imam of Igbole and various Islamic organisations.
