PORTABLE AND THE 2025 GLOBAL TWINS FESTIVAL: Prince Tayo Akinyemi

The modernisation of the Twins festival in Igboora was not just to make the Global home of Twins the largest assembly of Twins among others, but also:

1. Put the global event on the global map of the UNESCO/Guinness Book of Records.
2. Boost the socio-economic development of the town and Ibarapa region in general through the idea of a Twins Village.
3. Means of resuscitating the defunct Igboora Day and uniting all Sons and Daughters of the soil devoid of section or political sentiment.
4. Explore our untapped resources, culture, and uniqueness of Ibarapa land.
5. Empowerment of indigent Twins through scholarships, employment opportunities, skill acquisition programs, etc.
6. Funfair and showcasing younger generations our good, rich morals, and potent culture.

These, among others, formed the objectives of the Heroes that sacrificed for the emancipation of the initiative (unfortunately, forgotten).

Since the modernisation of the global feet in 2018, our Royal fathers and community leaders have been striving so hard in transforming these objectives to a global standard. To sustain these, all inclusiveness of ‘EVERY CONCERNED INDIVIDUAL’ without sectional or political sentiment must be fairly considered.

Yes! Government has assumed responsibility for the global event, but what comes to the faith of the beneficiary community without electricity, poor roads, crime rate, substandard public schools, among various underdevelopments?

I monitored various critics and appraisals of the 2025 Twins festival vis-à-vis the invitation of a music star called ‘PORTABLE’; honestly, I got pained with various perceptions about the idea. I kept wondering what this idea plans to impact on our younger generations (especially the teenagers) who usually form a larger percentage of the assembly.

I imagine the outcome of this idea on the campaign against drug abuse, which the same government claims a state of emergency in. I imagine the situation on perceptions of various personalities who are already scheduled for the occasion. If this idea is necessary, I appeal to the Oyo State Government to also look into the idea of empowerment of our indigent Twins, fulfillment of pledge of Twins Village, resuscitation of our electricity, poor road network, and proper attention to diminishing education standards.

As I congratulate the Oyo State Government, our highly revered traditional rulers, and Igboora community, I humbly appeal to the Oyo State Government to prioritize what is needful to promote the unique global Twins festival.
