Ibarapa Kan Never Gave Me Any Scholarship — Okegbenro Breaks Silence

Kabiru Okegbenro has denied benefiting from any scholarship allegedly awarded by Hon. Adebayo Adepoju, member of the House of Representatives for Ibarapa Central/North Federal Constituency. Contrary to public claims by the lawmaker’s media aide that he was among two constituents sponsored to study at INTI International University in Malaysia, Okegbenro insists he never received any funding and has been left to cover the costs himself.

In a detailed statement, Okegbenro described the publication made on December 4th, and later featured in Hon. Adepoju’s second-year-in-office magazine, as “inaccurate” and “misleading.” According to him, the announcement stated that he and another constituent, Ayanbode Fatih, had been awarded full scholarships to study Construction Management (Building Information Modeling) at INTI International University through an arrangement facilitated by TPSeal Education.

Okegbenro confirmed that he submitted all required credentials and was deemed qualified by the university but was asked to pay certain fees for enrollment — contrary to the public claim that the program was fully funded.

“When I reached out to Hon. Adepoju, he assured me I should not pay anything. However, despite repeated follow-ups, no arrangement was made to secure my enrollment,” Okegbenro explained.

He further revealed that TPSeal offered him a final chance to join the September cohort if the payment was made, but his communication to Hon. Adepoju and his aide went unanswered.

“It is disappointing that Hon. Adepoju’s media office reported that they had sponsored two constituents to study at INTI International University when in reality, neither of us has received any such scholarship,” he stated.

Okegbenro clarified that his decision to speak publicly was not to tarnish the lawmaker’s image but to protect his own integrity.

“I am not a beneficiary of any scholarship from Hon. Adebayo Adepoju,” he stressed.

The lawmaker and his media aide have yet to publicly respond to the claims at the time of this report.
