IBARAPA APC DENIES ENDORSING ANY GOVERNORSHIP ASPIRANT FOR 2027

The APC Pathfinders, a group of influential grassroot politicians in Ibarapa Zone, has refuted reports claiming the endorsement of Hon. Aderemi Oseni as the zone’s preferred governorship aspirant for the 2027 general elections.

It described the report, titled “Oyo 2027: Ibarapa APC Elders Present Oseni As Governorship Favourite”, as misleading and false in all intent and purpose, which aimed at creating confusion within the party.

The group, in a statement released on Thursday, clarified that the meeting held on Saturday, June 14, in Eruwa was merely a courtesy visit by Hon. Oseni to members of the G64, a consultative body of APC leaders.

According to the group, the G64 comprises respected leaders across Ibarapa East, Central, and North who meet monthly to deliberate on the growth and unity of the party in the region.

They maintained that the gathering focused on strengthening party cohesion and sharing goodwill messages, but at no point was any aspirant endorsed or declared a favourite for the governorship ticket.

The APC Pathfinders noted that the report was a calculated attempt to distort the outcome of a peaceful and consultative meeting for personal political gains.

It therefore called on media organisations and political stakeholders to verify all facts before going public, especially on sensitive matters that touch on intra-party democracy and unity.

The group urged party members and the public to disregard the report, stressing that the process of selecting the party’s candidate for 2027 is yet to commence and will be all-inclusive.

The group concluded that the G-64 leaders do not have the prerogative to unilaterally endorse a candidate for 2027, as such power is not vested on any group but the appropriate party organs.
