GRATITUDES AS LAJORUN, IBEREKODO HIGH SCHOOL RECEIVED N250,000 CASH GIFT OF LATE ALHAJI ATILOLA ADEDIGBA FIBSA INTER SECONDARY SCHOOL DEBATE

The Principals of Lasogba High School and Iberekodo High School, Mrs Tawakalit Adebisi and Mrs Minat Olawunmi respectively has expressed joy and gratitude to the late Alhaji Atilola Adedigba family and organizers of the just concluded Late Alhaji Atilola Adedigba FIBSA inter secondary school debate for the initiative, commending their effort in promoting education at the grassroots.

They noted that if such opportunities had existed in the past, the community would have recorded greater academic progress.

In a separate reaction , the Principal of Iberekodo High School, Mrs. Olawunmi offered a special prayer for the late Alhaji Adedigba, asking Almighty Allah to grant him Aljanat Firdaus and to strengthen the family.

Mrs Tawakalit Adebisi, Principal, Lajorun High School lauded the Adedigba family’s efforts towards community development. She used the opportunity to call on the Oyo State Government and meaningful individuals to salvage the school which currently has no good road linkage. According to her, “the road to the school is no longer motorable, our students have to cross the river while teachers and visitors park their vehicles distance away before getting here”.

Speaking on behalf of the Adedigba family, Alhaji Tayo Akinyemi appreciated FIBSA for honouring the memory of the late Alhaji Adedigba. He announced a donation of ₦250,000 as pledge by the family during the competition in appreciating each of the six participating schools. He reaffirm the Adedigba family’s pledge to sponsor their WAEC, NECO, and JAMB examinations as soon as the registration begins. He added that the memorial program would now be an annual event as promised by the family.

Comrade Abbas Adekola, representing the FIBSA executive, thanked all dignitaries present and congratulated the students for making it to the finals. He recalled that during their own time in secondary school, they lacked such platforms, and prayed that the present opportunity would leave a lasting impact on the students’ lives. He also appealed to school managements to always welcome and support student-union-driven initiatives.

Also speaking, Comrade Victor Okewusi, President of the Federation of Igboora Students’ Union, emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between students’ unions and school authorities to ensure the success of future educational projects. He cautioned students not to use the opportunity as a means of pride but as motivation to excel academically.

On behalf of the School Governing Council, Mr. Afolabi Salako representing Dr. Adedeji commended the program, stressing that students in Ibarapa Central and North record some of the lowest results in the region. He urged TESCOM representatives to intensify efforts to improve academic standards.

The Adele of Iberekodo Land and Chief Adeleye Samson Olusegun (Ikolaba of Iberekodo), who represented Oba Jamiu Adedamola Badmus, the Oluaso of Iberekodo Land, lauded the initiative and encouraged the students to remain committed to excellence in their academic pursuit. To further support the program, the Iberekodo traditional council donated ₦50,000 to the school.

TESCOM officials, community leaders, Parents of the students and other dignitaries were also in attendance to grace the occasion.
