Barrister Opeyemi Tijani (BOT), an Ibarapa-born legal luminary and member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has expressed profound sorrow at the passing of a revered community leader, Dr. Amos Adepoju, the Asiwaju of Igboora.

Dr. Adepoju, a highly respected community leader and pioneering human capital developer, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the venerable age of 89.

In his statement, Barrister Tijani eulogized the late elder statesman for his lifetime of dedicated service to the people of Igboora and Nigeria at large. “The story of modern Igboora cannot be written without the indelible ink of Dr. Amos Adepoju’s contributions,” Tijani stated. “From his early days in the 1950s with the Igboora Literary and Progressive Union, which became the Igboora Progressive Union (IPU), he was a driving force behind transformative community projects.”

Barrister Tijani highlighted that Dr. Adepoju’s visionary leadership was instrumental in the establishment of foundational institutions including the Igboora High School, Igboora Town Hall, the Post Office, and the Technical College, now known as OYSCATECH.

Beyond his community impact, Dr. Adepoju served the nation with distinction as the Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, and later as a National Commissioner for the Interior. “His tenure in these roles opened doors for countless indigenes of Ibarapa and Oyo State, many of whom are now senior officers in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Immigration, and Correctional Services, cementing his legacy as a true builder of people,” Tijani added.

Barrister Tijani extended his deepest condolences to the entire Adepoju family, particularly to his wife, children, and the Honourable Member representing Ibarapa Central/North Federal Constituency, Dr. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju. He also shared his sympathies with the people of Igboora, whom he described as having lost a father and a guiding light.

Barrister Tijani concluded by praying for the peaceful repose of the soul of the departed leader, stating, “May the Almighty God grant him eternal rest and give the family the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.”

Barrister Opeyemi Tijani (BOT) is a legal practitioner from ibarapa and a committed member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, known for his active engagement in community development and public service.
